The San Telmo festivities in Zumaia officially began last night, with hundreds of residents participating in the drum parade and a moving flag-raising ceremony, despite heavy rainfall.

The inclement weather did not spoil the start of the San Telmo festivities in Zumaia last night. Even though it was raining continuously, many residents came out to enjoy the drum parade and the flag-raising event, as is customary.
The drummers set off from Sagarbide and made their way to San Telmo street. There, they made a special stop, longer than usual this year, waiting for the rain to subside. Afterwards, they proceeded to the Cofradía, where the most emotional moments of the night took place.

At midnight, former fisherman Jose Luis Saizabal Etxeberri raised the flag on the Cofradía's balcony, and after listening to the San Telmo march, the party erupted.
