The elektrotxaranga group Sakatu! from Txorierri (Bizkaia) has been crowned the winner of the fifth Basque Country Elektrotxaranga Competition held in Azpeitia, achieving victory in their first participation.

The competition spanned four Saturdays in May, with Sakatu! particularly standing out in their performance on May 23rd. The winning group has secured a prize of 5,000 euros and the opportunity to perform again in Azpeitia during the upcoming San Juan festivities.
This year, for the first time, the organizers also awarded second and third prizes. Elektrotxuflak, two-time previous winners, received the second prize of 2,000 euros; and last year's winner, 3indarrok, took home the third prize of 1,000 euros.
Organizers highlighted the "exceptional" level of the participating groups this year. The jury considered various criteria in their decision-making, including "musicality, sonority, interaction, performance while moving, song diversity, use of Basque language, and parity".
