The labor dispute in Gipuzkoa's elderly residences does not have an easy solution. Negotiations for a new sectoral collective agreement are stalled, and the fight to achieve an individual agreement for each residence has, until now, yielded no results.
Some residences have initiated an indefinite strike, and at the territorial level, the San Juan Residence is one of them. Since then, they have carried out various protest actions, both locally and in other cities and towns.
This week, on June 10, 11, and 12, sectoral strikes are called. To these must be added the mobilizations that will be carried out by the workers of the residences on indefinite strike.
Called by the ELA union, they will undertake walking marches throughout Gipuzkoa "to socialize the conflict and demand that the Foral Government finally enable measures that eliminate worker precariousness and the gender gap".
Today, marches were held in Legazpi and Beasain, and tomorrow the relay will be taken up by Zumaia with a march between Zumaia and Zarautz. The group will depart at 09:30 AM from Beheko Plaza and will reach the Malecón of Zarautz along the coastal road. Tomorrow, a march will also take place in Errenteria.
