Azkoitia City Council announced last week that it would increase the frequency of the service, offering the possibility of processing these two documents in the town monthly. However, the PSE-EE desires further reinforcement and suggests offering the service every two weeks to address the "rise in requests" and avoid "unnecessary travel to other towns."
According to Janire Igoa, spokesperson for Azkoitia's PSE-EE, the "interest" shown by citizens clearly indicates that this is a "necessary and highly requested service." She emphasized that this mobile Police unit "greatly" facilitates basic administrative procedures for the elderly or those with mobility issues, as it prevents them from having to travel to other towns and improves accessibility.
In Igoa's view, offering the service monthly is insufficient to meet the current "high demand," which is why she has called for its reinforcement. "We believe this measure would simplify and improve the attention received by Azkoitia residents, reducing waiting times and making this resource accessible to more people without leaving the municipality." She has urged the Azkoitia Municipal Government to consider expanding the service to better adapt to the "real needs" of the citizens.
She reiterated that when a service is "functional" and citizens use it "so positively," institutions have a "responsibility to strengthen it and adapt it to demand."
