The PNV municipal group in Azpeitia has expressed concern over the lack of progress on the Landeta Special Plan, urging its immediate reactivation to reorganize the neighborhood.

The PNV municipal group in Azpeitia has voiced its concern regarding the lack of progress on the Landeta Special Plan. This plan was approved three years ago, shortly before the municipal elections, and was presented at the time as the “beginning of a long-term strategy”.
The jeltzale party recalls that the City Council itself, governed by EH Bildu, acknowledged the need to act in the area. It was described as a disorganized space with diverse and incompatible uses —housing, industry, hospitality, or disused pavilions— and with clear urban problems that required a comprehensive intervention.

"Existing reports support the viability of the plan, both in urban and economic terms. That is why it is difficult to understand why it has been set aside."

The plan's purpose was to “reorganize the area and transform it into a more attractive, functional, and adapted environment to current needs,” using urban planning tools and with a vision for the future. Furthermore, it was proposed as an economically viable initiative, with projected revenues exceeding costs, which guaranteed its sustainability. However, three years later, the project remains undeveloped.
The PNV believes there are no technical or economic reasons to explain this situation. A municipal councilor stated that real expectations were generated around Landeta, presenting it as a “necessary and executable” project, which is now paralyzed. In this regard, the question arises whether it was a “firm commitment” or an “initiative for electoral purposes”.
The councilor also indicated that, after reviewing the plan, the jeltzale group identifies aspects that could be improved, especially concerning collaboration with property owners, although emphasizing that this should not prevent its development. “It is necessary to review the approach, strengthen cooperation, and, if necessary, redefine objectives, but not abandon the project. Landeta requires it,” he added.
For all these reasons, the PNV of Azpeitia urges the EH Bildu municipal government to resume the Landeta Special Plan, review it if necessary, and reactivate it with clear, realistic, and results-oriented planning.
