The Urbia area has gained twelve new ash trees this week, planted to extend the existing tree line and provide better guidance for hikers in the mountains.

This initiative was made possible through the collaboration of local institutions and volunteers. The Oñati City Council covered the cost of the plants, while the Consortium of Gipuzkoa and Álava provided the necessary materials, such as stakes and fencing, free of charge.
The planting work was carried out by a group of volunteers from Urbia, continuing the effort started last year. Participants included residents from Segura, Zegama, Arrasate, Zornotza, Zarautz, Mutriku, Azkoitia, and Zestoa.
The new trees have been placed along the path leading from the Urbia hermitage towards Artzanburu and Eskista. The main goal is to provide visual reference points for hikers, ensuring better orientation even during days with heavy fog.
