The Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and the Azkoitia City Council have launched the Batera Labs project, an initiative aimed at identifying environmental challenges and defining solutions together with the local community.

A collection box has been placed in the square of Azkoitia, next to the Municipal Police station, to gather proposals regarding energy transition, sustainable mobility, and food systems. The project is being developed in collaboration with the Gipuzkoa network of citizen laboratories.
Authorities have highlighted that the Urola Kosta region faces significant climate challenges. These include rising sea levels, coastal erosion, extreme weather events, and heatwaves, all of which impact biodiversity and public well-being.
Citizen contributions will be analyzed by experts to serve as a starting point for the next phase of the process. The goal is to work collaboratively to define concrete proposals and solutions to address the identified issues.
