Mayors from the Urola Erdia region held a meeting at Zestoa town hall to discuss the institutional future of the area and inter-municipal cooperation, focusing on the restructuring of the Iraurgi Berritzen development agency.

Last Friday, municipal representatives from the Urola Erdia municipalities held their first assembly in Zestoa. The primary goal of the meeting was to reflect on the future institutional structure of the region and the collaboration between municipalities to provide the most appropriate services to citizens.
The mayors of Azkoitia, Aizarnazabal, Beizama, Bidania-Goiaz, Errezil, and Zestoa gathered for the meeting. The mayor of Azpeitia was unable to attend and was replaced by the deputy mayor. Discussions focused on the future opportunities for each locality and the balance between the municipalities.
Currently, only Azkoitia and Azpeitia are full members of the Iraurgi Berritzen development agency. The future objective is to create an entity that encompasses the entire region, with a regional perspective. To this end, they discussed the advisability of updating or renewing the current institutional structure of the region and the need to organize the future and competencies of regional institutions.
All municipal representatives expressed their willingness to continue these meetings, reaffirming their commitment to the region's development.
