The women of the Zumaia Rowing Club had their best race of the season today on the waters of Hondarribia, finishing in third place. They won the first leg, and although they were neck and neck with San Juan at the turning buoy, they left Hibaika, Donostiarra, and San Juan behind on the long stretch back. With a time of 11.06.16, they also surpassed Tolosaldea and Astillero from the top-tier heat.
Despite being in last place, today's performance has made it clear that Zumaia will fight to stay in the Euskotren League. This was emphasized by the patron from Azpeitia, Amane Jimenez, to the ETB cameras immediately after the race; she stated they would try to perform as well as they did today in the final three races.
The regatta was won once again by Arraun Lagunak (10.55.02), with Orio coming in second (11.03.54).
Following today's results, Zumaia is six points behind Donostiarra: Donostiarra has 34 points, while Zumaia has 28.
In the men's category, Zumaia also performed very well, finishing third in the time trial regatta held in Errenteria (Gipuzkoa). Deusto won (19.36.62), Zarautz was second (19.48.12), and Telmo Deun was third (19.50.88).
