The historic structure of the Gomestio farmhouse has been moved from Agorregi to Arrasate, and the Provincial Council has announced the completion of its temporary storage process in Atxabalpe.

The historic structure of the Gomestio farmhouse was brought from AgorregiAia– to Arrasate at the end of 2025. According to the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council, the relocation was decided to be carried out in two phases due to "difficulties" related to transport, particularly with the longest pieces. These were "temporarily" placed in Atxabalpe while a permanent location was being determined. The relocation process was completed in early January.
In Atxabalpe, the wooden pieces were placed on rollers to "isolate them from the ground and prevent direct contact with soil moisture". The largest pieces –beams and columns– were positioned at the bottom, while the smaller ones –joists and rafters– were placed on top. Regarding covering, the structure was initially planned to be "covered with canvas". However, due to the "high humidity" the pieces had during the relocation, it was decided to "temporarily postpone" this action, as covering it immediately could "hinder proper ventilation of the wood" and "cause condensation or deterioration processes".
Furthermore, since January, follow-up visits have been conducted to "verify the drying level and humidity status". Consequently, it is now considered "appropriate" to install the protective tarp, a task expected to be carried out "in the coming days". Finally, the Provincial Council explained that the months the pieces have been uncovered have been used to perform "verification and contrast work" on the scan made during the dismantling of the structure.
