The Elkano's Landing spectacle, which takes place every four years, will be held on Friday afternoon, starting at 17:00, in Getaria. If previous years' attendance is repeated, a large crowd is expected in the streets of Getaria, not only from local residents but also from surrounding towns, filling the streets and corners of the pier and the Old Town.
This year's landing reenactment has been organized as part of the Salbatore festivals and will have a significant impact on traffic in Getaria and the wider region. Consequently, as announced by officials, the coastal road N-634 will be closed between Zumaia and Zarautz from 15:00 to 19:30. Access to Getaria by car will be prohibited during this period.
Furthermore, shuttle bus services will be provided to compensate for the lack of private vehicle access. These buses will run every 10-15 minutes between Zumaia and Getaria, and between Getaria and Zarautz. Buses from Zumaia will serve up to the port before returning to Zumaia via Gaztetapen. Those coming from Zarautz will turn around at Iturritxiki before heading back to Zarautz.
Access to the town from Meaga will be restricted solely to Getaria residents. Drivers will be required to present their identification documents for verification, officials stated.
