First Stage of Women's Basque Country Tour to Start in Zarautz

Cyclists will begin the competition on May 15 at Zarautz's promenade, facing a challenging 121.3-kilometer route.

The Women's Basque Country Tour will commence on May 15 in Zarautz with a 121.3-kilometer first stage, where cyclists will tackle six mountain passes, including Azkarate.

Details of the Women's Basque Country Tour, set to begin on May 15, were presented today in Zarautz. In this initial stage, cyclists will cover a distance of 121.3 kilometers, also passing through the lands of Azkoitia.
The inaugural stage will start at Zarautz's promenade, from where participants will head towards Deba. They will then have to conquer the Kalbario and Azkarate mountain passes before proceeding from Azkoitia to Azpeitia. After passing through Urrestilla, they will ascend Santa Ageda, and after Etumeta, they will cross Aizarnazabal via Zubialde. Finally, after climbing Garate, the finish line will be back in Zarautz.
In total, this year's edition will feature three stages. Following the Zarautz stage, the second will take place the next day in Bizkaia, between Abadiño and Zornotza. The tour will conclude on May 17 with the third and final stage, held in Donostialdea.
