The program of the Zarautz Summer Music Festival, held throughout August, continues. Following the success of the first concert, this Thursday marks the second session in the Santa Clara church at 20:30. Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy classical music.
This time, the ensemble Vivalma will present a program divided into two parts, titled 'Danser' and 'Ballare'. The group consists of musicians Marta Ramírez García-Mina (baroque violin), Marina Cabello del Castillo (viola da gamba), and Eloy Orzaiz Galarza (harpsichord).
The concert will revolve around instrumental baroque repertoire, rooted in courtly and folk dance. The first part, 'Danser', will feature a Suite de danzas created by Vivalma, based on pieces by composers such as J.P. Rameau, F. Francoeur, J. Du Phly, and F. Couperin. The 'Grand Ballet' by Marin Marais will conclude this section focused on the French national style.
The second part, 'Ballare', will showcase Italian dance through the bass ostinato. The ensemble participated in the Juan March Foundation's 'Jóvenes Intérpretes' cycle in 2017 and has performed at various festivals since then.
Last Thursday marked the first concert, featuring Italian violinist Julian Kainrath and German pianist Ánton Gerzenberg. They performed two sonatas from the 19th-century chamber repertoire, focusing on the intimate and balanced dialogue between violin and piano, by composers Edvard Grieg and Johannes Brahms, along with a piece by Rachmaninov.
The next event is scheduled for August 22, with the group Expressio Duo under the title 'Elementuak'. Accordionists Maria Zubimendi and Garazi Navas will bring music from three centuries to the expression of an accordion duo, ranging from the elegance of the French baroque to Basque music with works by Aita Donostia and Jesus Guridi.
