The reenactment of Elcano's landing, which occurs every four years, will be held this Friday afternoon, starting at 5:00 PM, in Getaria. As in previous years, a large crowd is expected in the streets of Getaria, as well as from surrounding towns, filling the streets and corners of the dock and the Old Town.
This event, organized within the San Salvador festivities, will have a significant impact on traffic in Getaria and the region. According to officials, the coastal road, the N-634, will be closed to traffic between Zumaia and Zarautz from 3:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Consequently, access to Getaria by car will not be possible during this period.
During this time, a shuttle bus service will operate every 10-15 minutes between Zumaia and Getaria, and between Getaria and Zarautz. Buses from Zumaia will reach the port and return to Zumaia via Gaztetapen. Those coming from Zarautz will turn around at Iturritxiki and return to Zarautz.
For those coming from Meaga, only residents of Getaria will be allowed to enter the town. To do so, drivers' identification documents will be verified.
