The Getaria Town Hall has completed the renovation of the leisure area in the Askizu neighborhood, materializing a citizen proposal from the 2026 participatory budgets.

The Getaria Town Hall has finished the renovation works for the leisure area in the Askizu neighborhood, and the new space is now open for public use. The work was carried out by the company Txukun Lorazantza.
This project originated from an idea put forward in the Askizu neighborhood during the 2026 participatory budget process. In response to the citizens' proposal, the Town Hall has transformed the existing green space into an area for recreation and to promote gatherings among neighborhood residents.
To this end, a wooden platform, children's play equipment, and three picnic tables have been installed, along with an access walkway to the tables. Additionally, new trees and shrubs will be planted in the spring to enhance the green character of the environment.
Through this intervention, residents of all ages now have a new space in Askizu to spend time outdoors, play, and socialize.
The project budget amounted to 33,855.38 euros, including VAT.
With this initiative, the Getaria Town Hall continues to implement proposals generated through citizen participation, aiming to improve public spaces in neighborhoods and foster the daily lives of residents.
