Bilbao City Council has announced that sanitation and sidewalk expansion works will begin in the Begoñalde complex, in the Zurbaran neighborhood, over the next seven months, as part of the Auzokide Plan.

The works will impact sidewalks, the roadway, and parking spaces on Zumaia street and within the Begoñalde complex itself. During the construction, an alternative vehicle passage regulated by traffic lights will be established.
This intervention will improve the sanitation network, as well as pedestrian mobility conditions for accessing the Begoñalde complex, a stretch of approximately 125 meters with narrow, discontinuous sidewalks and an average slope of 19%.
The project includes expanding sidewalks to a minimum width of 1.50 meters, removing steps, renewing pavements and railings, and creating new pedestrian crossings. Other services will also be addressed, such as the rainwater collection network and public lighting, which will feature new LED luminaires.
The project, part of the Auzokide Plan, has a budget of 511,645.65 euros (VAT included) and a seven-month execution period.
