EH Bildu has presented a project for the comprehensive renovation of several public spaces in Zumaia, including Beheko Plaza, the Erkibe building, and the restrooms at Zuloaga Plaza.

EH Bildu has highlighted the poor condition of the current facilities at Beheko Plaza, pointing out damaged seating, an outdated children's play area, and a general need for modernization. They advocate for a complete renovation to transform the plaza into an attractive meeting point for all residents of Zumaia.
Furthermore, they state that the Jubilatuen Etxea (Senior Citizens' Center) is also becoming obsolete and consider it essential to install air conditioning to ensure adequate conditions for the elderly, especially given the increasing heatwaves. This measure would also fulfill a unanimous decision from the March 2024 plenary session to create climate refuges.
Regarding the historically significant kiosk at Beheko Plaza, EH Bildu reminds that citizens allocated 125,000 euros in participatory budgets for a multi-purpose covered space, which has yet to be realized. They believe the location is ideal for such a facility.
The public restrooms at Zuloaga Plaza also require significant renovation. They propose a complete interior refurbishment while respecting the exterior appearance of the current building, aiming to provide more modern, accessible, and user-friendly facilities.
The Erkibe building is seen as a key element for completing the overall project. They suggest a use related to children, such as a playroom, a new nursery, or a covered space for safe play during inclement weather. Its location, with ample pedestrian areas, a garden, and a nearby plaza, is considered highly suitable.
They note that the municipal government has recently launched a public consultation process regarding the future of Erkibe, focusing on food sovereignty. While they support promoting local products and the primary sector, they do not believe Erkibe is the most appropriate location for this purpose.
Finally, they recall that the Erkibe project has two parts: the building and the garden. However, they criticize that the process is being carried out in reverse, intervening in the garden first without defining the building's use. They argue it would be more logical to agree on the building's future function first, and then organize the surrounding garden area accordingly for more efficient management.
