The Leioa City Council, through the company Gizaker, has conducted a study to assess citizen satisfaction and perceptions regarding various aspects of the municipality. The survey, carried out between June 16th and 18th with the participation of 600 adult residents, reveals that 86% of residents give Leioa a 'notable' or 'excellent' rating as a place to live, with an average score of 8 out of 10. This score is even higher among young people aged 18-29, who give it almost a 9.
Regarding the municipality's evolution, 85% of Leioa residents believe that Leioa has improved or at least remained the same in recent years, with 63% considering it to have advanced positively. Among young people (18-29 years old), the perception of positive evolution rises to 72%.
Leioa is highlighted in the survey as a clean, safe, and environmentally conscious municipality: 88% consider it clean, 84% safe, and 80% environmentally aware. Furthermore, 77% believe citizen participation is encouraged.
The most valued services are waste collection (7.7), culture (7.7), and Citizen Attention Service (7.3). However, the main problems identified by citizens relate to mobility: the distance to the metro, lack of parking, and insufficient public transport. Key needs highlighted include housing (social housing, purchase/rental aid) and sports facilities (improvement of installations).
Municipal management receives an average rating above 6 out of 10, with young people (18-29 years old) giving the highest score (almost 8). The most positively regarded project is the covering of Avanzada, followed by green spaces and parks, and the pedestrianization of Boulevard. The current sports center is considered insufficient.
Regarding information sources, the municipal magazine is the most used by those over 60, followed by the internet (used mostly by 30-60 year olds), and social media (18-45 year olds). The City Council's website is the primary online information source.
In the political sphere, EAJ-PNV is the best-rated party (almost 6/10), followed by EH Bildu (over 5/10). Mayor Iban Rodriguez Etxebarria (EAJ-PNV) is the most recognized (74% awareness) and best-rated politician (6.6/10). Electoral projections suggest that EAJ-PNV would remain the most voted party, increasing its council seats.
