The jeltzale party denounces a situation that, according to them, has become a “recurrent problem”: overflowing containers, accumulated waste outside, and dirt in collection areas. They state that these deficiencies “affect both the image of Getaria and the quality of life of its residents”.
Furthermore, EAJ-PNV warns that the situation tends to worsen during the summer months due to the increase in visitors and the consequent rise in waste. Therefore, they consider it necessary to act preventively before the start of the high season.
“"This situation attracts stray cats and seagulls, which break bags and scatter rubbish, increasing dirt and generating health and coexistence problems for residents."
Among the proposed measures is increasing the frequency of emptying the most problematic containers, especially in areas with high foot traffic such as the Old Town. They also request to reinforce cleaning and control tasks at collection points to prevent waste accumulation outside containers and ensure periodic cleaning of these areas.
Another proposal involves installing more litter bins in strategic locations within the municipality of Getaria, a measure that, according to EAJ-PNV, would help reduce the presence of litter on the streets and improve the maintenance of public spaces.
