This mountain race will feature two main events: a long distance of 65 kilometers, known as the 40 MLK, and a shorter 26-kilometer race, the 15 MLK. Organizers have confirmed 580 participants for the long distance, with 15% being women, nearly doubling last year's figures. For the short race, 450 participants are expected, with a particularly significant 50% female participation.
This year's edition maintains the routes from previous years, with no changes in distances, elevation gains, checkpoints, or time limits. The main event, the 40 MLK, covers a 65-kilometer course with an accumulated positive elevation gain of 3,700 meters and a maximum time limit of 12 hours. It is a technical and demanding route that crosses several surrounding municipalities, combining challenging mountain sections with more runnable areas.
The shorter distance, the 15 MLK, offers a 26-kilometer course with 1,400 meters of positive elevation gain and a five-hour time limit, making it an accessible yet equally demanding option within the mountain race calendar. As in previous years, top runners will be motivated by cash prizes for breaking course records: 300 euros for the 65-kilometer race and 100 euros for the 26-kilometer race.
A significant part of this event's success is attributed to its volunteers. This year, 400 individuals will be mobilized to ensure the smooth running of the race. Additionally, the involvement of nearly 80 companies and businesses, along with institutional support from the municipalities of Errezil, Bidania-Goiatz, and Beizama, as well as the Azpeitia City Council and the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council, is crucial. Inclusion will also be a key aspect through the Gune Urdina space, managed by Real Sociedad Fundazioa, reinforcing the spirit of the Domusa Teknik 40 MLK, encapsulated in this year's motto: “Herritik herriarentzat” (From the people for the people).
