The San Martin neighborhood in Azkoitia will celebrate its centenary next year, and in anticipation of this milestone, a documentary chronicling the neighborhood's history and its residents' experiences will premiere tomorrow night on Guka.

This work, directed by Javier Beristain and Mari Karmen Elorza, has already had two screenings at the Baztartxo theater and will now offer another opportunity to view the audiovisual piece. Tomorrow, April 22, at 9:00 PM, it will be available on both Guka television and the Azkoitia Guka and Guka websites.
The San Martin neighborhood was established at the beginning of the 20th century to address the housing needs of workers. Promoted by Rikardo Otaño, then mayor of Azkoitia, community labor was the foundation of its construction, allowing those without money to pay for their homes through their work. The documentary intertwines a historical narrative explaining the neighborhood's origin and development with a personal one, recounting the daily lives and relationships of its former residents.
To complete the project, videographer Monica Torres filmed the footage, musician Joseba Beristain composed the score, Silvia Etxaniz created several verses, and bertsolaris Naia and Nora Arrizabalaga performed them. Additionally, various extras participated in the documentary, helping to recreate the atmosphere of the neighborhood's past.
