The main purpose of this contest is to encourage hitano, and it is open to participation from people of all ages: children, young people, and adults. The only condition for participation is that all verse series must be written in hitano, and the use of noka will be positively valued by the jury.
Three categories have been established: children (up to 14 years old), youth (between 15 and 18 years old), and adults (19 years or older). Each category has a different number of verses to submit: children must submit at least two verses and four couplets, young people six verses, and adults eight verses.
Financial prizes also vary by category. The winner of the children's category will receive 125 euros, the youth category winner 250 euros, and in the adult category, the first prize will be 500 euros and the second prize 250 euros. Additionally, Azkoitia Awards will be given in all three categories: 75 euros for children, 150 euros for youth, and 300 euros for adults.
There are two ways to submit works: in person at the Azkoitia Town Hall or electronically through the municipal website. The rules of the competition can also be consulted on the organization's website. The jury is composed of two members from the Hike Eizan! working group and two from the Erniarraitz bertsolari association.
The winners will be announced on June 1st, and the award ceremony will take place on June 25th, as part of the VI. Hike Eizan! bertso session. For any questions, participants can write to euskara@azkoitia.eus or call 943-54 20 02.
