Members of Azpeitia's Gaztetxe had a successful evening on Friday, as part of Youth Week. Engaged in this event since Monday, yesterday was one of the most important days of the program, combining protest and a festive atmosphere.
From 6:00 PM onwards, several dancers performed a 'poteo' (a social gathering with drinks and snacks) with the accompaniment of trikitilaris (traditional Basque accordion players). They spread a romeria (pilgrimage-like celebration) atmosphere from square to square until they reached the main square. There, a barbecue was organized to satisfy their hunger.
After the barbecue concluded, around 10:00 PM, the parody began, which has become a favorite event for humor enthusiasts within Youth Week. Many people gathered under the arches of the town hall, creating an excellent atmosphere.
Today marks the end of Youth Week activities. In the morning, there will be a mountain excursion to Xoxote, and at 11:00 AM, the Xoxotera Igoera race. After the race, a 'hamaiketako' (mid-morning snack) and the awards ceremony will take place at Xoxote itself.
