Twenty canvases from Azpeitia's V Street Painting Contest, depicting various corners of the town, will be on display at the Betharram exhibition hall until May 17.

This exhibition brings together the artistic creations from Azpeitia's V Street Painting Contest. The competition, organized by the Town Council and Arte eta Diseinu Eskola, saw the participation of twenty adults and two children. The artworks capture different locations within the municipality, such as José Artetxe street, in front of the San Sebastián de Soreasu parish, the streets of the Old Town, and the surroundings of the Enparan tower and Loiola.
The first prize in the contest was awarded to Mikel Sanz for a painting created from the rear of the Loiola Basilica. The second prize went to Fernando de Vicente. The monetary prizes were 800 euros and 500 euros, respectively. The award for the best local artist, valued at 300 euros, was given to Asier Itulain, who had also won it in 2023.
Children and young people also had the opportunity to participate, divided into two categories: youths aged 12 to 16, and children under 12. In the youth category, the winning work was by Jakes Agirre, while in the children's category, it was by Gurutze Benitez. Both received a set of art materials as a prize.

"It's true that there were very good works, and seeing that, I am very happy to have won. Looking forward to the next one. Beginner's luck."

The competition, now in its fifth edition, is consolidating its position and gaining recognition among similar contests held across the territory. This has led to an increasing number of artists returning to the Azpeitia event. The jury, composed of members from ADI and the Town Council, highlighted the quality of the submitted works.
