Two runners from Azpeitia, Jexux Zelaia and Xabat Manzisidor, have achieved outstanding results in the mountain running championships organized by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA) in events held in Palencia.

Jexux Zelaia, a runner from Azpeitia, has secured two medals at the mountain running championships organized by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA), held in the Palencia area. In the over-60 category, he won a gold medal in the vertical kilometer event in Brañoso and a silver medal in the mountain race in Aguilar de Campoo.

"The end of the route was cut short due to a storm, and the first three of us reached the finish line within six seconds of each other, suffering a lot."

According to Zelaia, the vertical kilometer event was extremely tough, with part of the course having to be shortened due to a storm. In the mountain race, after completing two laps of a demanding eight-kilometer circuit, he finished one minute and six seconds behind the winner, securing the silver.
Xabat Manzisidor, also from Azpeitia, participated in both events and reached the podium in both for the over-40 category. He earned two bronze medals, one in the vertical kilometer event and another in the mountain race, representing the Goierri Garaia team.
