Azkoitia Town Council will allocate 800,000 euros for new parking spaces and the undergrounding of an electrical tower.

The Azkoitia Town Council has approved a budget of 800,000 euros for the construction of new parking facilities in the San Martin neighborhood and the removal of an electrical tower in Txalonerreka, aiming to enhance residents' quality of life.

The Azkoitia Town Council has approved two budget allocations to fund significant projects, totaling an investment of 800,000 euros. These initiatives aim to create more parking spaces in the San Martin neighborhood and to bury an electrical tower in Txalonerreka, thereby improving the urban environment.
Specifically, 300,000 euros will be allocated to the removal of the electrical tower in Txalonerreka, while the remaining 500,000 euros will be invested in covering the parking area located opposite the Gurutzeaga house. Municipal officials have emphasized that both interventions are "necessary" for the improvement of local infrastructure.
The works in the San Martin neighborhood will nearly double the parking area. The current parking lot, which covers 480 square meters, will offer more space as new parking spots will be created on top of the new cover. The project has already been drafted, and the council has stated that it is a "commitment made from the beginning" to "obtain as many parking spaces as possible" in the area.

"The current parking lot opposite Gurutzeaga has an area of 480 square meters, and thanks to the intervention, the parking space will almost double."

Furthermore, these works also seek to improve pedestrian connectivity, considering the significant unevenness of the terrain. Therefore, each floor will have separate accesses, facilitating accessibility.
On the other hand, the electrical tower that was temporarily relocated to the Txalonerreka neighborhood in May of last year will be buried. The council believes that this measure will "eliminate the visual impact" it generates in the surroundings. The economic allocation for this action was approved at last week's municipal plenary session. This initiative, along with the new Malkorbide road, is part of Txalonerreka's urban transformation.

"Txalonerreka has been transformed with the new Malkorbide road, and it will be transformed even more as the planned urban and urbanization development progresses. We want to make improvements, and the undergrounding of cables falls within this criterion."
