The Smartlog Nest rider completed the 31-kilometer course in 40:15.46, securing the title by a mere 25 hundredths of a second.
Agirre set the fastest time at the finish line, and none of the pre-race favorites managed to surpass him. This victory marks his first national elite time trial championship, achieved two years after winning the U23 title, and it is his first Spanish championship with the Smartlog Nest team.
The Zumaia native concludes a remarkable season, during which he also became the Euskadi Elite Road Race Champion and the Euskadi and Gipuzkoa Elite Time Trial Champion.
“"This jersey means a great deal to me. It has been a very tough year, especially due to the loss of my mother at the beginning of the season. I thought of her a lot during the entire time trial, and I am convinced that, in some way, she was with me today."
Upon receiving the champion's jersey, Agirre dedicated his victory to his late mother and expressed gratitude to his team, family, and supporters. Smartlog Nest will continue its participation in the Spanish Championships. On Sunday, the elite road race will take place, where Aitor Agirre will once again start alongside his teammates Aimar Erostarbe and Diego Ruiz de Arcaute, aiming to remain prominent in one of the calendar's major events.
