Zubiaurre Swimming Club Secures 40 Medals in Gipuzkoa Championships

The club's swimmers across alevin, infantil, junior, and absolute categories achieved excellent results in the summer competitions.

Swimmers from the Zubiaurre Swimming Club collected a total of 40 medals in the Gipuzkoa Summer Championships, across events for the club's alevin, infantil, junior, and absolute categories.

Members of the Zubiaurre Swimming Club have secured a total of 40 medals in the Gipuzkoa Summer Championships. The competitions for the club's alevin and infantil swimmers took place two weekends ago, while the junior and absolute categories competed last week in Berriz (Gipuzkoa). Swimmers in the latter categories earned fourteen medals, and the alevin and infantil swimmers collected twenty-six.
In the junior and absolute categories, medals were won by Olaia Gaitan, Aner Agirrezabal, and Joritz Garate. Gaitan finished second in juniors and third in the absolute category in the 50-meter backstroke event, as well as in the 100-meter backstroke and 50-meter freestyle. Furthermore, she won bronze medals in the 100-meter freestyle in both categories. Agirrezabal, meanwhile, secured junior bronze in the 100-meter freestyle and 50-meter butterfly, and was the second-best junior in the 50-meter freestyle and third in the absolute category. Garate, for his part, won two silver medals in the junior category: in the 50 and 100-meter breaststroke events.
Additionally, medals were also achieved in relays for the junior categories, both male and female: in the 4x100 meter freestyle, both the boys' and girls' teams finished third; and in the 4x100 medley, the girls secured silver.
In the alevin and infantil categories, Zubiaurre swimmers demonstrated a very high level, winning a total of 26 medals. In the combined standings, the boys achieved third place. In the alevin category, medals were won by Elen Aldalur, Lia Arregi, Mara Hernandez, Kaia Izagirre, Ekaitz Urrutia, Jon Larrañaga, Garder Juaristi, Joanes Oñederra, and Galder Plazaola; in the infantil category, by Lide Ansolak, Larraitz Azkoitia, Erik San Sebastian, and Eneko Juaristi; and in relays, the boys in both alevin and infantil categories managed to reach the podium.
