Aingeru Castro and Alaitz Urkiola Win VIII Goilurrak Rally

The event held between Azkoitia and Lazkao saw 57 drivers compete in a race affected by high temperatures.

Aingeru Castro and Alaitz Urkiola have been crowned the winners of the VIII Goilurrak Rally, held this weekend between Azkoitia and Lazkao, in a competition that included 57 drivers.

Organized by the sports clubs Errebueltie Motor and Ikullu Racing, the VIII Goilurrak Rally took place this weekend between the towns of Azkoitia and Lazkao in Gipuzkoa. The pair Aingeru Castro and Alaitz Urkiola secured first place, followed by drivers Alberto Marcos and co-driver Garazi Beitia, and pilot Aitor Saizar with co-driver Alain Agirre.
Organizers emphasized that this year's edition was long and particularly hot. The event commenced on Friday in Azkoitia with technical checks and vehicle presentations. The rally officially began on Saturday.
The first and third timed stages were held in Errezil, covering a 7.44-kilometer route from near Benta Berri to Santa Engrazia. The second and fourth stages took place between Endoia in Zestoa and the restaurant Otarre in the Madariaga neighborhood of Azkoitia, spanning 14.58 kilometers. These four sections were contested within the Urola Kosta region.
The subsequent four timed stages were conducted in the Goierri region and its neighboring areas. The awards ceremony was held yesterday evening in Lazkao, marking the official conclusion of the event.
