After six months of work, the Atxulondo cultural center is ready for the new season. Zizurkil City Council has carried out the energy renovation of the building with the aim of improving its efficiency.
The renovation work focused on the exterior of the cultural center, improving insulation. To this end, the facade and roof have been renewed, reducing heat loss and increasing efficiency. Thanks to these works, the building's energy rating has improved from E to C, and energy consumption will be reduced.
Mayor Maite Amenabar emphasized the fulfillment of a key commitment of the term, stating that improving municipal buildings and promoting sustainability has been a priority. A more comfortable and sustainable building will be offered to users.
In addition to repairing the roof and creating a new facade, the windows have also been renewed. Two systems have been combined on the facade: SATE (External Thermal Insulation System) on the lower floor and a ventilated facade on the rest. These measures will help maintain heating in winter, reducing energy consumption.
The City Council highlighted that the results of the project were already noticeable this summer, with a more comfortable interior during heatwaves. The works had a budget of 391,482.48 euros and were financed through the European Union's NextGenerationEU program, with a grant of 150,000 euros.
