Amasa-Villabona will celebrate its Santiago Festivals from July 24th to 31st. The program includes numerous events such as opening ceremonies, street parades, concerts, sports competitions, tastings, and popular dinners, organized by various groups and associations.
From Friday, July 24th, to Sunday, July 26th, the festivities will kick off with great energy. The initial days will feature the opening ceremony and 'rosquilla' climb by Seaska Haur Eskola and Besamotza Konpartsa, followed by parades of 'gigantes and cabezudos', a futbito tournament, and concerts. Saturday, Santiago Day, will include a 'diana' (morning wake-up call), 'kantujira' (singing tour), institutional visits, popular races, a concert by the music band, 'soka dantza' (rope dance), and award ceremonies. On Sunday, finals for pala and hand pelota will be played, alongside a chess tournament and the popular 'konpartsa' parade and performance, as well as a cider and pintxo tasting.
Monday will be the Seniors' Day, featuring a 'toka' tournament, an exhibition of crafts and paintings, a pelota gathering, and a seniors' lunch. In the afternoon, there will be a 'gigantes and cabezudos' parade and several pelota championships. Tuesday will be Youth Day, with a youth lunch, 'bola tiraldia' (a type of bowling game), and an 'elektrotxaranga' street band parade, followed by a park in the afternoon and concerts at night.
On Wednesday, there will be a weightlifting competition and 'sokamuturra' (bull running with a rope), as well as a 'txekor' (bullock) roast and cider tasting. Thursday will be the Day of the 'Cuadrillas' (groups of friends), with lunch, a street parade, and a dance. The festivities will conclude on Friday, San Ignacio Day, with a water park, 'rebotea' (a Basque ball game), 'sokamuturra', and various parades and performances.
