The Deputy of Sustainability for the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, Jose Ignacio Asensio, along with representatives from ten development agencies, including Tolosaldea Garatzen, signed an agreement today to bolster energy sustainability and the fight against climate change in the region.

This agreement will benefit Tolosaldea and the agencies representing 87 other municipalities in Gipuzkoa, providing them with technical assistance and specialized tools. The goal is to promote the implementation of renewable energies, advance in energy saving and efficiency, and prevent and address energy poverty.
The agreement will be valid for two years, offering greater stability to the agencies for planning and developing strategic energy projects. Each agency will receive an annual contribution of 60,000 euros, totaling an investment of 1.2 million euros.

"With these agreements, we provide stability to regional energy planning and reinforce a model of energy transition based on proximity, inter-institutional collaboration, and commitment to people. The energy transition is built from the territory, with solutions adapted to each local reality."

The ten agencies will share several common lines of work to strengthen their role as energy hubs in each region. These include technical dialogue with municipalities, promoting regional energy planning, and energizing the Regional Energy Councils. Furthermore, each region will develop specific projects tailored to its reality. Tolosaldea, for instance, will continue to promote activities in energy efficiency, sustainable mobility, renewable energies, and citizen awareness.
