The Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa will conclude the renovation of the A-15 highway tunnels this weekend, with the road set to fully reopen on Sunday, the 24th, after eight years of work and a 95 million euro investment.

After eight years of work, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa will complete the rehabilitation of the A-15 highway tunnels this weekend. If projections hold true, the road will fully reopen on Sunday, the 24th. To carry out these tasks, the highway will be closed between Andoain and Berastegi from Friday night, when temporary signage and other construction elements will be removed.
The Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa began the works at the San Lorenzo tunnel in 2018. In total, 95 million euros and eight years have been required to completely renovate the four tunnels (San Lorenzo, Belabieta, Etzegarate, and Urnieta). The opening of the Belabieta tunnel will mark the end of construction that has caused significant traffic disruptions.

Irune Berasaluze · Spokesperson for the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa
Irune Berasaluze, the council's spokesperson, stated that the works have been technically complex and thanked users for their patience throughout the years.
