Txikia IV completed the race in 22 minutes and 44 seconds, surpassing his own record from the previous year. He finished nearly four minutes ahead of the second-place finisher, Ibai Soroa (26:20), and more than four minutes ahead of third-placed Xabier Zaldua (27:08).

Aitzol Atutxa, making his debut in this discipline, finished the competition in fourth place (29:07), falling outside the top positions in the rankings.
