Members of the Etzandarri Mountain Group will ascend Ausa-Gaztelu mountain (901 meters), known as the “twin of Txindoki” due to its similar appearance and proximity. Organizers have emphasized that this peak is “spectacular,” despite being lower in altitude and thus less famous than Txindoki.
This mountain carries significant historical weight, as its name originates from a castle that once protected the Enirio causeway. Even today, remnants of that fortress can be seen at the summit, adding cultural value to the route.
The route will be approximately nine kilometers long and has been classified as “easy-moderate” in difficulty. Although it presents no technical challenges, participants are warned that the final ascent is “tough,” so it is recommended to be in good physical condition to tackle the last effort.
Transportation for this excursion will be carried out in participants' private cars, individually. The meeting point is set for 09:00 AM at the Armintza bus stop, with an anticipated return by 6:00 PM. It is also noted that the Lemoiz City Council only provides a bus for the group twice a year, with this service being available for the May and October outings.
