The Bizilagunak initiative, which brings together local and foreign residents around a shared meal, will return to Tolosaldea on May 10th, aiming to break stereotypes and foster social cohesion.

Organized by SOS Racismo Gipuzkoa, this project facilitates meetings between families or groups from different backgrounds to get to know each other and build relationships. This promotes the discovery of other cultures and combats racism, which is increasingly present in society.
This year, a special appeal has been made to young people, a demographic where hate speech is becoming more common. Those interested can register until May 1st as participants or as facilitators, mediating between attendees.

"The most effective way to combat racism is not based on grand speeches, but on small gestures like a meal. It is a simple but very powerful excuse to get together, get to know each other, and start relationships."

Registrations can be made via an online form or by writing to migrazioa@tolosaldea.eus. In addition to homes, the Bizilagunak initiative will also extend to parks and gastronomic societies for more flexible and accessible participation. Last year, 430 people participated in 30 meals across Gipuzkoa, with 84 participants in twelve gatherings in Tolosaldea.

"Some of us were born here, others come from outside, but we are all from Tolosaldea and that is how we want it to be. We want to assert that these people come in search of a better life and enrich our society."
