Berastegi hosts the first round of the Basque Duathlon Championship this Saturday

Fourteen athletes will compete in the Gipuzkoan town to secure one of the three spots for the final.

The town of Berastegi will host the first round of the Basque Duathlon Championship this Saturday, where fourteen participants will compete for three spots in the grand final.

Competitors must complete a demanding circuit involving horizontal and vertical cuts of 45-inch logs, combined with a 500-meter run. The entire sequence must be performed twice within a maximum time limit of 18 minutes.
The second qualifying round will take place next week in Zumarraga. The six finalists will face previous champions on June 7th at the bullring in Tolosa.
Additionally, Urnieta will host the second semifinal of the Caja Rural aizkolaris tournament this Sunday. The event will feature men's and women's pair competitions, along with a stone-lifting exhibition.
