Interested creators can submit their proposals between April 27 and May 27. This year, the grant will have the special support of the Berria newspaper, to increase the dissemination and visibility of the project.
The call is open to all artistic disciplines, and adult creators can participate, either individually or in groups. The projects submitted must be original and cannot have been previously published.
“"The natural environment and the tranquility of the villages allow one to move away from the daily rhythm and delve into the creative process, making the landscape itself part of the work."
Through the grant, the selected project will receive 1,800 euros in aid and will undertake a three-week residency in Alkiza, between September and December of this year. During the residency, the artist will have access to municipal infrastructures and resources, as well as support and advice in the creative process.
To evaluate the projects, the organization has formed a multidisciplinary jury, composed of experts in the field of art and management. The jury will take into account various aspects, including the quality and originality of the project, the artistic trajectory, the feasibility of the proposal, and its connection with the context of Alkiza.
The selection process will be carried out in two phases: first, a documentary evaluation of the submitted projects will be conducted and, if necessary, in a second phase, interviews will be held with the candidates to learn more about the proposals.
The Sormenaren Kabia initiative promotes artistic creation and, at the same time, seeks to highlight the potential of rural areas for cultural development, strengthening ties between creators and the local community. Alkiza, moreover, is located at the foot of Mount Hernio and within the Natura 2000 network, in a special context for creation.
