The Mendibile Jauregia Palace in Leioa and the Txakoli Museum-Txakolingune in Bakio will host the sixth edition of the Txakomic festival from April 17 to 19, blending gastronomy, illustration, and music, with Galicia as the guest region.

As reported by the Bizkaia Provincial Council, over three days, attendees can enjoy experiences that naturally combine winemaking, cuisine, and art, fostering creative encounters between flavors, vineyards, and illustration. This edition will feature Galicia as the guest territory, establishing a gastronomic and cultural exchange between the two regions, united by "Atlantic identities, culinary traditions, and respect for the product".
The festival will commence on April 17, at 7:00 PM, at Mendibile Jauregia, with an enogastronomic experience pairing Bizkaia txakolis with a selection of Galician cheeses. Sommelier Silvia Landeira and María Mora, founder of Manducateca, will lead the session, highlighting the nuances of txakoli and its affinity with northern flavors. During the activity, illustrator Mamen Moreu will create a live illustration on site.
On April 18, Mendibile Jauregia will host a cultural and gastronomic day, starting with the first edition of the comic and illustration fair Zurrut!, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM and from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM. The program will continue at 12:00 PM with a 'showcooking' dedicated to Galician seafood and mountain gastronomy, presented by the Casa Galicia restaurant. Sommelier Roberto Sarriugarte will lead the tasting, while illustrator Susanna Martin will capture the process in a live drawing. Additionally, there will be a concert by the group Folk Terra Nai at 1:00 PM, accompanied by live illustrations from artist Char-Lee Mitto.
In the afternoon, at 6:00 PM, children can participate in a mask workshop led by Ruth Juan. The day will conclude with the presentation of Saltsa Nostra, the first Basque cookbook in comic format, at 6:30 PM, by Iker Bildosola and Sergio Ortiz de Zarate, which will include a txakoli and cheese tasting.
The Txakomic festival will move to the Txakoli Museum-Txakolingune in Bakio on April 19. There, at 12:00 PM, a 'showcooking' and tasting session titled 'From Bizkaia to Galicia, a path full of flavor' will be held, led by sommelier Elena Urigüen alongside the team from La Rue del Percebe restaurant. During the activity, illustrator Raisa Alava will create a live drawing inspired by the gastronomic process. Finally, children can participate in a creative stained-glass workshop starting at 12:00 PM, facilitated by Bea Aparicio.
The Txakomic initiative stems from the collaboration between the Txakoli Museum-Txakolingune, managed by the Bizkaia Provincial Council, the Mendibile Jauregia Association, the Regulatory Council of the Bizkaiko Txakolina Designation of Origin, and the Jata-Ondo Uribe Rural Development Association. The project originated in 2021, inspired by the Komikia exhibition hosted by the Txakoli Museum-Txakolingune. This sixth edition has been coordinated once again by illustrator Kike Infame. All information about the festival and reservations can be made on the bizkaikotxakolina.eus website; the concert is free.
