The current crossing, which uses a reinforced concrete pipe, shows deficiencies that prevent proper water drainage. Technical reports have highlighted the need to reinforce the structure to ensure it can support heavier vehicles during emergency situations.
The project involves removing the existing pavement, installing new precast concrete modules, and renewing the road surface. Additionally, a stone riprap will be installed to reinforce the terrain. The 55.000 euro investment will be split equally between the two councils, with the Mungia City Council overseeing the bidding and technical management.
The work is expected to take two months. In preparation, the Mungia City Council has begun improvements on the Jainkoetxebarri road, with an investment of 43.358,90 euros, to provide an alternative access route for residents while the main works are underway.
