The service encompasses the control of rodents and insects, disinfection, disinfestation, and deratization of municipal buildings, along with monitoring pigeon populations. For rodent control, the municipality is divided into four zones, implementing monthly preventive treatments supplemented by two intensive annual campaigns. The sewage network is also periodically inspected for anomalies.
However, the service extends beyond scheduled actions. When citizens, municipal staff, or technical services report pest-related issues, the responsible company is notified to assess the situation and intervene if necessary. Urgent notices are addressed within a maximum of 24 hours.
This approach ensures that preventive planning is complemented by the capacity to respond to specific situations throughout the year. According to the latest technical report, the deratization service is generally proceeding without significant issues, although recent action was taken near the old cemetery due to an increased rodent presence.
Regarding crawling insects, six annual disinfestation treatments are carried out, with monthly interventions between April and September, reinforced during peak presence periods in April and August. This plan is augmented by addressing punctual notices received at any time.
The service also includes monitoring 20 municipal buildings, with periodic inspections tailored to each facility's characteristics. Controls are bi-monthly in sports centers and monthly in schools from September to June.
Pigeon population control is maintained year-round using capture cages that are checked twice weekly for monitoring and proper management of captured specimens.
Pest prevention also relies on the cooperation of citizens and property owners' associations. Municipal actions in public spaces should be complemented by necessary maintenance and control measures in private buildings and areas. It is also recommended to avoid leaving food scraps or animal feed uncontrolled in public areas, as they can attract rodents and insects.
The Mungia Town Hall will continue to develop its service based on prevention, regular monitoring, and prompt response to notices, aiming to anticipate pest outbreaks and react swiftly to incidents within the municipality.
