The Ortuella City Council has approved the fiscal ordinances for 2027, with a general update of municipal fees and taxes of 2%, an increase lower than the Basque Country's annual Consumer Price Index (CPI), which stood at 4.2% in August 2026. With this decision, the Council aims to moderate the fiscal update's impact on residents' economy, avoiding the full transfer of generalized price increases to citizens and seeking to maintain a balance between public service provision and families' economic effort.
Among the main novelties for 2027, the 5% update in the waste collection fee stands out. However, the City Council is incorporating a 5% bonus for holders of the organic waste card, aiming to incentivize waste separation and promote more sustainable habits among citizens.
This measure seeks to recognize residents' participation in selective collection and continue advancing towards more responsible and environmentally friendly waste management.
Another novelty will be the incorporation of the Tax on Tourist Stays, which will begin to be applied in Bizkaia from January 1, 2027, in accordance with the new regional regulations. In Ortuella's case, the City Council has opted to establish the minimum rates contemplated in the regulations, which will apply to stays in tourist accommodations. Minors under 18 years of age will also be exempt from payment.
With this measure, Ortuella adapts its taxation to the new regulatory framework, opting for the lowest amounts provided for this tax.
