The Portugalete City Council has announced that the installation of new mechanical ramps in Vallecilla is in its final stages. The project, with an approximate budget of 1.5 million euros, commenced in December and currently focuses on the redevelopment of the surrounding area, including the small plaza on Vicente Durañona street and the installation of security cameras.
Following the removal of the old infrastructure, necessary measures have been taken for the fabrication of the new ramps, widening of the pits, and improvement of the sidewalk. The project will also include repairs to sidewalks, the Vicente Durañona plaza, and an unfinished section of sidewalk on Ramón y Cajal street.
Once the new ramps are installed, a video surveillance system will be implemented to deter vandalism and provide immediate monitoring of their condition.

It is estimated that the new mechanical ramps will be operational by mid to late September.
