Three San Sebastián Rowboats to Compete in Basque Championship

Donostiarra, Fortuna, and Donostia Arraun Lagunak boats will vie for the Basque Traineru Championship title in Getaria on Tuesday.

This Tuesday, June 7th, three San Sebastián rowboats will participate in the Basque Traineru Championship in Getaria: Donostia Arraun Lagunak in the women's category, Donostiarra in the men's, and Fortuna in the veterans' category.

The Basque Traineru Championship will take place this Tuesday, June 7th, in the waters of Getaria. The boats will compete in three different categories, and the capital of Gipuzkoa will have three representatives: Donostia Arraun Lagunak in the women's category, Donostiarra in the men's absolute category, and Fortuna in the veterans' category.
The competition will commence at 11:00 AM with the veterans' race. Fortuna will compete in the second heat alongside the traineras Mundaka, Badok 13, and Getxo. In the first heat, Plentzia, Zumaia, Iberia, and Illunbe will contend.
Subsequently, at 12:00 PM, the men's absolute category will take place. In this race, Donostiarra will compete in the second heat with the boats Bermeo, Orio, and Isuntza. The first heat will feature Zierbena, Getaria, Santurtzi, and Hondarribia. Last year, Orio won this championship, finishing ahead of Donostiarra.
Finally, at 1:00 PM, the women's absolute category will be contested. Donostia Arraun Lagunak, the Gipuzkoa champions, will row in the second heat with the traineras Kaiku, Deustu, and San Juan. The first heat will include Ondarroa, Tolosaldea, Isuntza, and Hondarribia. Last year's winner was Tolosaldea, ahead of Arraun, and this year the boat Lugañenea will aim for victory.
