A hair salon in Barakaldo was robbed at the end of April, and the business owner has voiced her deep frustration over the stress and lost work caused by the incident, as the thief remains at large.

The owner of the business, a hair salon located on Arrandi street, has been running the establishment for eight years. In the early hours of the last day of April, a Wednesday, the alarm of the premises was activated at 02:18. Checking the camera footage from her mobile phone, she saw an individual entering. The person was dressed in black and had their face covered with a hood to avoid identification.
The thief used a manhole cover from the opposite sidewalk to hit the glass door, though he did not manage to break it completely. The footage shows him kicking the glass and entering calmly. In a quick sweep of the business, lasting less than a minute, he took hairdryers, straighteners, shampoos, and masks, placing them into a blue bag. The owner stated that the material value is not the most important aspect.

"The worst part was not what was stolen, but the time I lost, the stress, the helplessness... A whole night without sleep and a morning lost from work at the courthouse, only for the thief to continue doing the same thing on the street."

She immediately called the Police, with whom the alarm center also made contact. A patrol in the vicinity spotted a suspicious individual and stopped him. He was carrying the stolen goods. The officers returned the loot to its owner and summoned her for the next day at 11:00 at the courthouse for a fast-track trial. She was between the premises and the police station from 02:30 until 07:00, then returned to the hair salon to remove the broken glass and install a white panel to continue working. The owner, who employs four people, had to cancel several scheduled appointments with clients to attend the court hearing.
Since the detainee did not admit to the facts, the trial could not take place that morning and will have to be rescheduled. The owner fears the process could take two to three years. The thief, a repeat offender, is already back on the street. The owner suggests that if he is ill or on drugs, he should be admitted to a detoxification center. She acknowledges that the Police acted correctly but laments that criminals mock justice, entering through one door and leaving through another.
To make matters worse, while she was with workers on the same Wednesday afternoon, installing blinds on the shop window to prevent further robberies, the owner noticed that the trunk of her car, parked in front of the hair salon, was open. At that moment, she saw two individuals attempting to steal from her vehicle. She called the Police, and the criminals fled.

"We are tired of so much violence. Things are getting very ugly. When I arrived, it wasn't like this. Now we don't feel safe, we are afraid. We work with the shop door closed. Recently, another nearby hair salon and a pharmacy were also robbed."
