Trains on Metro Bilbao's Line 1 are facing general delays this Sunday afternoon due to 'technical causes' stemming from the high temperatures.

Trains on Metro Bilbao's Line 1 are experiencing widespread delays this Sunday afternoon. According to the subway operator, the situation is due to "technical causes" stemming from the high temperatures. Currently, repair work is in progress.
According to Euskalmet, several locations in Bizkaia had already surpassed 41 degrees around 3:30 PM. Furthermore, a red alert for extreme temperatures has been issued for all of Euskadi for this Monday. Maximum temperatures could reach 37 degrees on the coast and 40 degrees inland.
In addition to the metro issues, the heat has forced the cancellation of approximately twenty events scheduled for today in Bilbao and other towns in the territory. These include the events commemorating the 726th anniversary of Bilbao, the Kosta Trail in Sopela, and a performance by the Barakaldo Municipal Band.
