The swift and decisive intervention of the Bilbao Municipal Police and a local resident prevented a major tragedy in a fire at a premises in the Atxuri neighborhood of Bilbao, saving the life of a 48-year-old man on Wednesday night.

The incident occurred around 10:30 PM on Wednesday in a premises located at number 25 on Ollerías Altas street. A neighbor raised the alarm, shouting "fire! water!". Simultaneously, a young man "dressed in red" punched and broke one of the premises' windows, allowing the trapped man to breathe.
The "involved" and rapid response of the Bilbao Municipal Police was crucial. Thanks to their actions, the 48-year-old man, of Spanish nationality, was able to escape alive from the approximately fifteen-square-meter space, averting a more tragic outcome. Following the incident, a 45-year-old woman, also of Spanish nationality, has been arrested as the alleged perpetrator of attempted homicide.

A local resident stated: "They risked their lives. What I saw yesterday, I had only seen in movies.

The resident of the Bilbao neighborhood insisted that, were it not for the decisive action of the Bilbao Municipal Police, the man "would be dead." In this regard, he praised the excellent work of the officers, highlighting their bravery and effectiveness in this emergency situation.
