Five waste containers were intentionally burned in different parts of Barakaldo during the early hours of the morning. The City Council has issued a "strong condemnation" of these acts, which occurred in the neighborhoods of Ansio, Zuazo, and Gorostiza.
These uncivil behaviors cause significant harm to all citizens and generate substantial economic costs for public funds.
Municipal sources estimate that the cost to replace these bins will "exceed 5,000 euros." The perpetrator(s) have not yet been identified, prompting the Council to request the community's help in finding those responsible. "Anyone who may have witnessed the events or possesses any information is urged to report it to the Local Police."
The local government took the opportunity to remind citizens that bins and street furniture "are public assets belonging to everyone, and their repair or replacement must be funded by municipal resources that could otherwise be used to improve services and infrastructure for all."
The City Council also emphasized that these actions "endanger the safety" of residents in the affected areas. Consequently, it has issued a call "for responsibility and civility" to help "maintain a well-kept, safe, and respectful Barakaldo."
