Since a group of friends decided to establish the Casa de Andalucía in Portugalete in 1984 with the aim of promoting Andalusian culture and customs, the project has continuously grown. This year, the institution reaches its 40th anniversary, and to commemorate this milestone, a series of events has been scheduled for the enjoyment of all residents.
“"I congratulate them because maintaining a regional center with so much life and participation for four decades is not easy."
The celebrations will kick off this weekend at the premises of the Andalusian center in Portugalete. On Saturday, starting at 6:30 PM, there will be performances by various rociero choirs. On Sunday morning, a documentary about the center's 40-year trajectory will be screened. Afterwards, there will also be a flamenco performance by the group Raíces and a communal meal. In the afternoon, attendees can enjoy rumbas and sevillanas by the group Kesonikete, in addition to a recognition ceremony for several members of the center.
However, the festivities do not end there. On April 25th and 26th, the eleventh edition of the Feria de Abril will be held at the food market. Throughout the weekend, starting from midday, there will be demonstrations of Andalusian art and culture, featuring music performances, dances, accessory and clothing stalls, a sevillanas competition, and gastronomy.
