The Portugalete City Council has renovated and modernized its IT infrastructure, utilizing a Next Generation grant of €319,588.21. This initiative has enabled the incorporation of new IT and telematic services.
Within the framework of Order TER/836/202, the Portugalete City Council received this subsidy. This order, under strategic line 4 “Digital Infrastructures,” aims to equip local administrations with the necessary technological infrastructure for their modernization, ensuring availability under all circumstances and adapting capacity to current needs, thereby contributing to the development of digital connectivity, data economy, and artificial intelligence in administrations.
Similarly, strategic line 5 addresses the Interoperability of basic digital administration services.
Thanks to this grant, the City Council has acquired more modern technological resources, advancing the administration's management and agility, and also facilitating communication between citizens and the Portugalete City Council.
The most significant actions undertaken with this Next Generation grant include:
- Renovation of servers and cabinets in the council's data processing centers, minimizing the possibility of data loss and streamlining management and maintenance capabilities.
- Implementation of a new electronic registry manager, allowing for greater agility in handling citizen requests and providing enhanced online management capacity through the electronic headquarters.
- Interoperability and SIR (System of Interconnection of Registries) with other institutions, facilitating data provision to citizens for other administrations from the City Council itself, and vice versa.
